BEAT THE HEAT WITH AYURVEDA  Beat The Heat With Ayurveda This Summer We haven’t experienced such high temperatures across the globe for a very long time. The excess heat is not only impacting the environment but also slowly bringing changes from within the body. In this blog I would like to go through some simple remedies one could follow to help get rid of that excess heat from the body, hence helping to bring back that cool balance. Summer is known as a typical Pitta season. But it’s not only excess heat, there is Vata dryness hence resulting in dry heat changes. The aim is to get rid of this dry heat (Vata-Pitta excess) to help bring back balance. Cooling Fluids: Just simple fluids like water may not help to reduce the heat. But specific fluids like coconut water, buttermilk, aloe vera juice are more effective. All these fluids don’t just contain water but those extra minerals and electrolytes that the body loses when it is sweating. In Ayurveda  Coconut Water  ...

AYURVEDIC BEAUTY TIPS FOR SUMMER Summer is here and with the Summer Solstice, it’s that time of the year when the energies change and lots will start to happen. It’s a new phase and a new beginning. And before I proceed any further with my article, I would like to wish you all a very Happy International Yoga Day. 21 st  June 2018 was celebrated in many places as International Yoga Day. Thanks to technology and internet, I was overwhelmed to see thousands of people gather in various parts of the world. I hope that each and every Yoga enthusiast that I know of, celebrated this day. Just last week I was running the  Ayurvedic Beauty Therapies Course .  And while I write this blog, a few elements of the course have popped into my mind which I would like to share. From an Ayurvedic point of view, beauty isn’t skin deep. It’s much more than that. It is inner health and harmony. It also involves internal cleansing along with external nourishment.   SPRING CLEANSE YOUR FIVE SENSORY FUNCTIONS  When one talks about a cleanse or de-tox everyone seems to focus on the physical aspect or body. No one seems to talk about spring cleaning the five sensory functions. In fact, in Ayurveda we give immense importance to the five sensory functions or rather the head and neck region: This is the point of entry of life, meaning we eat food, we drink water or breathe in air from the head and neck region which helps to sustain and nourish life. The five sensory functions are located in the head and neck region – hearing, vision, smell, taste and touch. It is through these five sensory functions that we are in touch with the world around us. Our communication is through these five senses. Example – how we react or respond is through these senses. We touch, hence we react. We hear, hence we react. Also, through these five sensory functions we form our memories and experiences. Example people talk about visual memories, smell experiences et...

I love talking about Ayurveda, Yoga and the Vedic philosophies and that’s exactly what I plan to do here – write about topics that not many talk about. In Ayurveda we believe that knowledge is great, knowledge is divine, but it is of no use if you can’t put it to practice.   Therefore this is my attempt of putting this wonderful science of Ayurveda and Yoga into everyday practice for a better quality of life. In Ayurveda we also say that once you get to know the answer for “WHY”, ...
